JS Essentials for WordPress Devs

I first came up with this idea nearly 6 months ago. It took a total of 2 weeks to make it happen once I sat down and really did the work, but wow, this feels like a long time coming.

In just over a week from now, on March 4th, the first lesson of my free crash course, JS Essentials for WP Devs, will drop.

JS Essentials for WP Devs

I wrote a short blog post about it, but here's what you really need to know:

There are 15 fairly short lessons, covering some of the most common things you need to know and be aware of as you dive into the world of JavaScript. They'll especially help you if you plan on diving into React or Next.js.

It's all vanilla JavaScript fundamentals, and knowing these fundamentals will help your journey into anything JS related a lot smoother.

It's not everything. There are plenty of courses out there that will teach you all the fundamentals of JavaScript. Rather this is all stuff that will help you, the WordPress developer, who already knows a bunch of PHP and development norms, as you dive into the deep end of JS.

The thing about us WordPress devs (and probably others too) is we have a can-do attitude, we just want to get into the code and start figuring out. And for the most, that works out great!

But there are still some gotchas, some things that would be major bang for your buck, if you took the time to learn. And that's what this course is: all the things you'll come across repeatedly, that aren't as obvious as you might first think, cherry picked and presented in a mini course.

How's the course delivered?

It's a video course. It'll be delivered over email every day starting March 4.

If you sign up after March 4, say on March 7, for you the course will start on March 7, with a daily lesson delivered every single day for the next two weeks or so.

It's free. This is for the community. JavaScript is becoming a larger and larger part of our world. We all need this knowledge. Let's learn together and help each other. It's part of what makes our community great, right?

(Not that I'm against paid courses, I have one, and I'll definitely be making paid courses in the future, but this essentials course doesn't fit the bill for that.)

Check out the complete course outline and sign up for the course over on the sign up page! 😊

Since I last emailed you, I've written a few other "notes", restarted The Daily 5 podcast (100 daily episodes!) and done a few tech episodes on viewSource as well:

Happy Friday, y’all.
